  You can do it in 4 days, 3 nights. I drive Ottawa to caargly and vice versa and each time it took me 3 days, 2 nights, so add in 2 extra hours for ottawa to montreal and 10 extra hours for caargly to vancouver and it would be 1 extra day. I usually go ottawa to thunder bay the first day but that is a long old drive, if i were you i’d plan for montreal to say marathon or terrace bay on day 1, second day you’ll make it to brandon, third day atleast medicine hat maybe caargly and then vancouver sometime on the fourth day.P.S. i have no idea about the dog part of your question
